Annual Meeting At Khandallah The annual meeting of the Khandallah branch of the British and Foreign Bible Society was held last week at the residence ’of Mps. E. H. Picot. The following officers’ wore elected: President, Mrs. E. IL Picot; vice-presidents, Miss Plimmer, Mi’s, Flitch, Mrs. D. D. Scott, and Mrs-. Durrad ; lion, secretary, Mrs. I. M. Plimmer; collectors, Mesdames W. J. Phillips, Kendrick-Smith, Ollier, Watts, Worsfold, Williams, Dale, Clapperton, Mansfield, Stamp, I.ainburd, Picot, Ffltch, Misses Plimmer, G. Hqvlock and Mr. Patterson. Miss Fawcett, general secretary, very ably addressed the meeting, and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks, and the president was cordially thanked for serving afternoon tea. • CRICKET DANCE College Old Boys An “end-of-season” dance, all the more enjoyable because of its formal nature, was held in the Wellington College gymnasium on Saturday night bv the Old Boys’ Cricket Club. Streamers in black and gold, the college colours, were hung from the roof of the gymnasium, and around the sides were heavy dark blue curtains which separated* cosy little sitting-out alcoves for those who wished to watch the dancing Tuneful music was played by an efficient orchestra. A sit-down supper was served, the decorations in the room being asters in shades of pink and mauve. The energetic committee responsible for the arrangements were Messrs. Gordon White (sec.), G. Bradley, D. Earl, C. Warren, R. Wiggs, Lloyd Bidder, Ken Cowles, and Bernard Griffiths. The guests of honour were Mr. W. ' A. Armour (principal of the college) and Mrs. Armour, Mr. Lon McKenzie (chairman of the Wellington College Board of Governors), and Mr. R. Barnett (vice-president of the cricket club). To Marry At Auckland The marriage of Miss Isobel Wright, daughter of the late Archbishop Wright, of Sydney, and of Mrs. J. C. Wright, to Mr. Henry Johnson, of London, will take place on Easter Tuesday at St. Mary’s Pro-Cathedra*, Auckland. Mrs. Wright, is at present in New Zealand. Shortly after their wedding, Mr. Johnson arid his bride will return to England via America, in the Mariposa. Mothers' Helpers Grateful letters from a number of mothers who had availed themselves of the free service offered by the Mothers’ Helpers were read at yesterday’s meeting of the committee. The letters were helpful in stimulating the committee in its constant efforts to raise funds to help those who cannot afford to pav for the services of capable women. Mrs. C. W. Guthrie pre- . sided. Three Farewells Mr and Mrs George Coster, Eketaliuna have left for their new home in Wiipukurau. Before leaving they were farewelled by the Tararua Electric Power Board, of which Mr. Coster was a member of the staff, by the . citizens of Eketaliuna and by the MUIOO.F. Lodge. Mr Coster has ■ been'appointed assistant engineer to the Central Hawke's Bay Power Board.
