FAILURE TO SUPPLY LODGINGS
Hotelkeeper Fined By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, March 31. In what was described by SubInspector Packer as a rather rare case in Christchurch, Thomas Thomson was charged in the Magistrates’ Court this morning that, being the licensee of.the Southern Cross Hotel, he failed to stipplv lodgings when requested to do so. riiomson pleaded guilty and was fined £1 by Mr. E. C. Levvey, S.M. Sub-Inspector Packer said that a. traveller went to the hotel to seek accommodation for two relatives and was refused. Inquiries revealed that there were no lodgers at -the time. Apparently the difficulty was caused by the fact that the housekeeper was away. , Counsel said it was an exceptional case. There had been only two occasions in the last 12 months wheu accommodation at the hotel had been asked for. On the night accommodation was sought the housekeeper was absent under unusual circumstances.
