CHARGES DISMISSED
Alleged Cruelty To Sheep A charge against G. P- Costigan, butcher, Lower Hutt, of cruelly ill-treating a sheep by omitting to give it proper attention when it should have been destroyed, thereby causing it unnecessary suffering, was dismissed by Mr. H. P. Lawry, S.M., in the Magistrates’ Court, Lower Hutt, yesterday. A charge against Norman Salt, truck driver, employed by Costigan, of cruelly ill-treating sheep by throwing them to the ground from a truck, thereby causing them unnecessary suffering, was also dismissed. Mr. EL F. Bollard represented the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. on the information of whose inspector, Mr. R. A. Nicol, the charges were laid Mr. N. T. Gillespie appeared for Costigan and Salt. Two guineas were allowed the defendants.
