FORECAST FOR TO-DAY/S WEATHER.
’ Unsettled, With Rain Probable In Most Districts. Following is the weather report and forecast issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the 24 hours ending 3 p.m. to-day A moderate depression was crossing the Dominion yesterday and an anticyclone of slight intensity is following it across the north Tasman Sea. A fresh depression is, however, developing over south-eastern Australia. The forecast is for south-westerly winds in the south; otherwise moderate to strong north-easterlies to northerlies predominating and reaching gale force at times in the central provinces. A change to southwesterlies probable within 24 hours. Seas rough south of Cape Egmont and in Cook Strait; later rising north of Cape Egmont and south of Dunedin; otherwise slight to moderate. Moderate to strong south to west winds and rough seas in the eastern Tasman Sea. Weather unsettled and rain probable in most districts, but more specially in western areas. Some heavy falls likely in Westland and the Southern Alps. Thunder in places. Temperatures becoming rather cooler.
