RIFLE SHOOTING

Greytown Beats Karori A team representing the Karori Defence Rifle Club visited Greytown, at the week-end and fired a match against the Greytown Rifle Club under ideal conditions. The home team led the visitorsjiy three points at 300 yards, but at 500 yards the Karori team made up the deficiency. The local men, however, shot splendidly at 000 yards, beating their opponents at this range and in the match by 22 points. For Greytown 11. W. Feast gave a good exhibition of marksmanship, finishing with the excellent score of 102, including a possible at 000 yards. He was followed by D. Flynn, a junior rifleman, who shot steadily for a score of 100. T. H. R. Boon led the Karori team with a nicelycompiled score of 101. At the conclusion of the match the visitors were entertained by the Greytown club. Four veteran riflemen, Messrs. E. H. Trotman, H. Walden, W. J. Feast and J. B. Bairstow, who were all marksmen in the days of the Snider rifle, were present on the range, their attendance being much appreciated by both teams. The principal scores were »s follows: —

Karori Club’s Practice Match The Karori Defence Rifle Club fired a practice at 500 yards range at Trentliam on Saturday. Conditions proved difficult in the early afternoon, when unexpected “innei-s” upset tbe scores. However, - the wind steadied somewhat later in the afternoon, when some high scores were registered.
