Past Month’s Applications The past month’s activities of tlie Wellington War Relief Association were described in a report laid before a meeting of the executive committee yesterijay. The emergency committee met on 15 occasions during the month and dealt with 85 claims, ail of which were referred to and confirmed by the applications committee. In addition, 17 applications were submitted by men who were the responsibility of other societies, to whom the cases were referred for consideration. Nine applications were received from Imperial ex-servicemen,’ and after investigation were forwarded to the National War Funds Council for consideration and recommendation to the headquarters, New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association, who are administering the United Services Fund for tlie relief of ex-imperial servicemen in distress. Authority was given to expend £5O/5/7 on these cases, the action subsequently being approved by the applications committee. Assistance during the month was granted to the dependants of 14 exservicemen, who had been, admitted to hospital, or who were receiving outpatient treatment. In all such cases the necessary action was taken to ensure that the particular pension which the soldier and his dependants were eligible to receive was applied for. A number of applications had also been received during the month from men still in receipt of sustenance. Tlie amount' expended on footwear and clothing for the month was £74 3/10, and tlie total expended on sustenance was £69/8/4.
