As the result of his hands becoming jammed between a steel plate and a grindstone at the Hutt railway workshops yesterday afternoon, Mr. Win. Carty, a fitter, of Molesworth Street, Wellington, bad hio right thumb and the first and second fingers severed, and also met. with injuries to his left. hand. He was taken to hospital by the Free Ambulance.
