Conscription in Jersey. The Legislature in Jersey is introducing conscription for youths between the ages of 16 and 20, who must attend 50 military drills a'year, states ir London message. English Women Cricketers. The English Women’s Cricket Association has decided to send a team of 16 players to Australia in October, 1939, states a London cablegram. Fiji Cruise Cancelled. The liner Strathaird, which was placed under quarantine following the death at Freemantle from smallpox of a woman passenger, has 1 had her Fiji cruise cancelled, states a Sydney cablegram.
Australian Travel Association. Mr. W. J. H. Wilcox, journalist, of Adelaide, has been appointed New Zealand manager of the Australian National Travel Association, with headquarters at Auckland, states a Sydney cablegram.
Royal Navy Air Branch. The adoption of a distinctive badge to be worn by officers of the air branch of the Royal Navy has been approved by the King, states a British official wireless message from Rugby. The badge consists of the capital letter A in silver enclosed in a laurel wreath of gold embroidery. The badge is for use only by officers of the new short service air branch.
