ALBERTA MINISTRY

Reporter’s Arrest Ordered Edmonton, March 25. Tlie attempt by the Aberhart (Douglas Social Credit) Government to frustrate the Supreme Court and to attempt to control the Press assumed a new aspect to-day when the Legislature ordered the arrest and incarceration of Donald Brown, a reporter on the “Edmonton Journal,” who was charged with misreporting a debate in the House. Insistence by the Opposition that Brown should be heard first and that the member lodging the complaint should take proceedings through the courts was overridden to-night. The Sergeant-at-Arms was unable to find Brown. WARRANT NOT ISSUED (Received March 27, 7.30 p.m.) ■Edmonton, March 26.

The arrest of Brown has- been abandoned following the refusal of the Speaker to issue a ■warrant.
