TO-DAY’S AUCKLAND WOOL SALE
Outlook Satisfactory Dominion Special Service. Auckland, March 25. With the maintenance of firm values both at and London wool sales, the outlook for the third and final wool sale to be held in Auckland to-morrow afternoon is satisfactory. Values have - steadily tended to rise at recent auctions in the south, and brokers expect that growers will receive the best prices in Auckland for this season. The catalogue is particularly large, 32,668 bales, and the sale will probably extend into the evening. Lambs’ wool makes up an unusually large proportion of the catalogue. The wool has opened up iu average condition for a closing sale, and, although there is not a great deal of super wool, the majority of the clip is of good top- . making grade. Fine weather has obviated the necessity for late shearing, With the result that most of the wool is comparatively free from seed. A greater amount of coarse wool than usual ,is being offered, as has been the. case in recent sales in the south. . It is expected that the Continent and Bradford will set the buying pace. Japan has been absent for practically the entire season, but her buyers have re-entered the market recently, and there appear to be grounds for hoping that competition on Japanese account for crossbreds will again be in evidence. / ■ . The total distribution for the- two ‘ Auckland auctions held this season is - £598,962. There was a record cheque of £1.528,545 for the three sales in the previous season, but it is doubtful if the total figure fo,r the Auckland sales this season will reach the £1,060,000 mark, although it should be on a pai with the 1935-36 wool cheque of £935. 621.
