LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Primary School Swimming Certificates
Sir, —I would ask you,' if you ua.« space, to publish this letter to remove any impression that any slight was intended to those schools which had not sent ui requisitions for certificates by March 1.). Those schools,' or thfe staffs thereof, who may have felt any hurt over that report (and I hope there were none) will. 1 hope, accept by apologies for not making my point clear. The portion of the report to winch 1 refer is the last paragraph which reads: “Out of the dozens of schools scattered through the area controlled by the Merliugton Education Board thirteen' had. up till March 15, ap'plied for positions as follows, etc., etc.” My point I desire to make is that when all the others who wish to apply for these certificates have sent in their applications I have reason to expect that the total (1232) will be more than doubled. It is not intended that March 15, or, in fact, any date, is the limit for applications to reach me. At the same time tht N.Z.A.S.A. desires all applications for certificates to be in their hands before the middle of April, if pcssible. Therefore, if application is made to me I shall be pleased to supply any information in mj power. Thirteen schools in and about Wellington earned 1232 certificates among them This is an average of over 90 per school and surely nothing could show the interest taken in the art of swimming more than that. —I am; etc., R. E. PEACHEY, Hon. Sec., W.P.S.A.S.A. . 189 Onepu Road, Lyall Bay, March 24
