TEXTILE DISCOVERY

Important New Staple Fibre London, March 18. What “The Times” describes as “one of the most important textile discoveries” is announced by Courtaulds. It is a new staple fibre with dyeing affinity and other properties exactly like wool. It is stated that the company now believes it is within sight of a product exactly like wool, which would be hailed as an epoch-making achievement.

“Staple fibre” is the term applied to artificial fibre, such as rayon or other synthetic substitutes, when it lias been cut into lengths for spinning. It is thus distinguished from the long fibres which more closely resemble natural silk.
