Vice-Regal. His Excellency the Governor-General received Dr. Walter Schmid, ActingConsul for Switzerland, at Government House yesterday morning Her Excellency Lady Galway, attended by Mrs. R. G. Byron, visited the New Zealand Free Kindergarten Union (Wellington Branch) rooms yesterday morning.

Mr. R. M. Strang, Invercargill, Is on a business visit to Wellington. Mr. A. C. O’Connor has returned to Wellington after visiting Christchurch. Mr. E. C. Turner, Auckland, arrived at Wellington by the Limited express yesterday. Mr. A. Hose, Wellington, has returned home after visiting the South Island.

Captain and Mrs. J. D. Evans, Dunedin, arrived at Wellington from the south by the steamer express at the week-end.

Mr. T. C. Brash, secretary of the New Zealand Dairy Board, left Wellington for the north by the Limited express last night.

Mr. J. 11. Parker, of the New Zealand Fruit-Growers’ Federation, Ltd., Wellington, left for Auckland by the Limited express last night.

Mr. F. J. Ansell, North Island manager for the J. C. Williamson Picture Corporation, Ltd., arrived at Wellington from Auckland yesterday.

Mr. J. Bardsley, of the staff of the Bank of New Zealand, with Mrs. Bardsley, will leave for Canada by the Aorangi on March 22. From Vancouver they are to travel to Los Angeles, and then proceed southward and through the Panama Canal on their way to England.

Mr. E. A. Wallace, New Zealand manager of Burroughs, Ltd 1 ., is to leave for Sydney by the Wanganella on Thursday to connect with the Orcades for Europe. Mr. Wallace, who will be acebmpanied by Mrs. Wallace, will leave the liner at Marseilles to undertake a Continental tour before going on to England. He and his wife will return via the United States. Commander C. H. Kersley, R.N.V.R., honorary secretary of the Canterbury branch of the National Blood Transfusion Service, is visiting Wellington. He will attend the annual meeting of the 'Wellington Blood Transfusion Service on 'Wednesday night. Dr. Gordon Anderson, Wellington, has booked to leave Auckland for Vancouver by the Aorangi on March 22. After a tour of the United States and Canada, during which he will undertake some post-graduate study, Dr. Anderson will proceed to Europe, and may attend a medical conference in Vienna. He will be accompanied by' Mrs. Anderson. They will probably be away for the best part of a year. Mr. S. S. Timbs, who judged the New Zealand chilled beef championship at the Wanganui Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s 1937 show, will leave at an early date on a visit to England. Mr. Timbs has always taken a keen interest in New Zealand chilled beef an 1 while in London will make extensive inquiries as to the requirements at that end. He expects to arrive back at Wanganui next October. Mr.. A. H, Dobbie, formerly deputyregistrar of the Supreme Court, Auckland, has arrived at 'Wanganui to succeed Mr. W. S. Jones as registrar of the Supreme Court and clerk of the Magistrates’ Court. Mr. Jones, who has been transferred to Christchurch, where he will be clerk of the Magistrates’ Court, will leave this week. He will be farewelled to-day (Tuesday) by the Wanganui branch of the New Zealand Law Society, the Justices of the Peace Association, and the courthouse staff.
