HITLER’S LETTER
“Restoring Order In My Country” ASSURANCE TO ITALY Definite Frontier Drawn At Brenner Pass By Telegraph.—Press Assn.— Copyright. (Received March 14, 12.27-a.in.) Rome, March 13. In a letter to Signor Mussolini, Herr Hitler says: ‘‘l decided to restore order and tranquillity in iny country and give the popular will a chance to decide its own destiny whatever the result. "I wish most solemnly to state: "First, I do not see in my action any more than legitimate national defence, which any man of character in my position would joyfully perform. “Secondly, at the critical hour I demonstrated the strength of my sentiments to Italy (a reference to Germany’s abstention from sanctions). Nothing in future will change that respect. "Thirdly, I draw a definite frontier with France. I now draw one equally definite with Italy. It is Brenner. This decision will never be touched or questioned.”
