I Cricket Championships INTER-CLUB TENNIS The Wellington Cricket Association will continue its grade championship competitions this afternoon, when the following matches in the eighth series of the senior competition will be startedVarsity v. Old Boys, at Basin Reserve No. 2; Kilbirnie v. Wellington, at Kilbirnie; Institute v. Hutt, at Hutt; Midland v. Karori, at Karori. The Wellington Mercantile Cricket League will play the following matches in th 4 A grade championship this afternoon :—Taubmans v. Gasco, Kilbirnie 5; Woolwortbs v. Hannahs, Athletic 2; Celtic v. Amalgamated Bricks, Kelburn 3; Taxes Department v. Customs Agents, Newtown 7; Prestige v. Working Men’s Club, Athletic I. Hutt Valley Cricket. The Hutt Valley Crictcet Association will continue its grade championship competitions this afternoon, when the fol- , lowing A grade matches will be decided: General Motors v. Eastbourne at East; bourne; Empire v. Todd Motors, at Nai Nai No. 2; Trafalgar Park v. Gear United, at Trafalgar Park No. 1; Meadows v. Bell Park, at Bell Park. Women’s Cricket. Following are the Wellington Women’s Cricket Association’s senior fixtures for this afternoon :-—College Old Girls v.. Technical Old Girls, Prince of Wales No. 1; Y.W.C.A. v. Kilbirnie, Prince pf Wales No. 2; Wellington, a bye. Lawn Tennis. Following are the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association's senior inter-club fixtures for this afternoon :—Men: Island Bay v. University, Wellington A v. Newtown A. Wellington B v. Newtown B. Women: Miramar v. Karori, Wellington v. Brougham Hill, Thorndon v. Newtown. Baseball. The following is the league baseball programme for to-day : —Hutt League, fourth round: Hutt Tigers B (8) v. Todd’s Hawkes (8), at Hutt Park No. 1. 1.45; Hutt Tigers A (6), v. Hutt Tigers D (16). at Hutt Park No. 2, 1.45; Eastbourne Gulls (6). v. Hutt Tigers C (6.).' at Eastbourne, 1.45; Eastbourne Seahorses (12), v. Todd’s Snipes (8), at Eastbourne. 3.15. International League, final: Ford (0), v. City Giants A (0), at Polo Ground No. 1, 3.15. Golf. 4 The Shandon and Manor Park clubs will officially open the 1938 season this afternoon. The Hutt club will play a bogey competition this afternoon. A Stableford event will be played to-morrow morning, and a fourball bogey competition to--morrow afternoon. ■ Bowls. The chief event in bowls in Wellington to-day will be matches between the clubs that won the sections in the pennant competition. To-day’s matches will provide the finalists. Kelburn will play Hutt, and Karori will play Hiitt, two rinks at home and two away.
