WOMEN PATROLS

Justices Favour Adoption Of System By Telegraph—Press Association. New Plymouth, March 9. Although women police were not wanted in New Zealand, a great deal of social work and prevention of crime among young people could be effected by women patrols. This was the opinion expressed by the National conference of New Zealand Justices the Peace at New Plymouth this morning. A Taranaki remit, asking that necessary legislation should be enacted to ? provide for the appointment and training of women police was accordingly altered to provide for women patrols; These women would uot have power to make arrests, but could take names and addresses and call in the regular police where necessary.
