WANGANUI’S TRENTHAM CANDIDATES
Dominion Special Service. Wangaivui, March 10. Wanganui horses engaged at Trentham were not required to go against the watch this morning, but will be galloped on Saturday. Icing was trotted and cantered a circuit, and then ran home from the halfmile at three-quarter pace. This filly will be ridden in the Thompson Handicap by S. Wilson. The fact that she is slow to find her feet might go against her in the big mile face, in which so much depends on getting a good position early, but with any luck in the running Icing should be in the picture at the business end. Minga, on whom B. 11. Morris will have the mount in the Pacific Handicap next Thursday, was given useful pace work.
Rehearsal put in a couple of rounds at a slow gait. The son of Limond —Miw Thespian i» in splendid order to begin fast work, and'with a rousing gallop or two this handsome colt should be ready to give a glimpse of his ability at Treutham the second day, though he will need a race or two before he can be expected to uhow anything like his best. W. H. Dwyer is well pleased with the way Gaily, in progressing, and if the services of a capable lightweight ean be obtained this filly will be seen out in the Thompson Handicap. It is in her favour that she is a smart beginner and she should run a solid mile.
