FORECAST FOR TO-DAY’S WEATHER.
Changeable In Westerly Districts; Elsewhere Fair To Fine. Following is the weather report and forecast issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the 24 hours ending 3 p.m. to-day :— A westerly depression is passing away eastward, while a slight secondary, the last of the present series, is passing in the south. An anti-cycione extends from south-eastern Australia across the North lasman Sein Tli'e forecast is for moderate to strong winds,' west to south-west prevailing and at times reaching gale force in exposed positions about and south of Cook Strait; decreasing to-day. Seas very rough at first about Foveaux Strait, and rather rough to rough ’elsewhere on the West Coast and in the Cook Strait area; elsewhere slight to moderate, but later rising south of Banks Peninsula. Moderate to strong south-west to southerly winds and rather rough seas in the eastern Tasman Sea. Weather changeable in districts with a westerly aspect and in the far south, with occasional showers; otherwise mainly fair to line, but some scattered showers later in eastern districts of the South Island. Temperatures becoming rather cooler, especially over the .South Island.
