Lower Hutt Women Cricketers’ Dance
The Lower Hutt Women's Cricket Club held a well-atteuded dauce in St. Peter's Hall last evening. Mr. E. Wells was the M.C., and Mr. A. Pickles was at the piano. The committee was: Miss B. Calder (secretary), black net over satin; Misses Joyce Williams (club-captain), green satin; Marjory Sissons, green floral marocain ; Jean Sissons, green lace; Edith Gwilliatn, pink floral taffetas. Farewell to Mrs. Ballaiityne. Mrs. Ballantyne, Milling, Lowfcr Hutt, who will leave next week to reside at Dunedin, presided yesterday for the last time at the monthly meeting of the Methodist AA T omen’s Missionary Auxiliary, of which she has been president for many years. Miss Elsie Smith, representing the Girls’ Kia Hiwi Club and Bible classes, expressed gratitude to Mrs. Ballantyne for her encouragement, sympathy and never-failing practical help’ to the young" people’s organisations in their work for the poor and needy. Miss Smith presented Mrs. Ballantyne with a book. Mrs. AV. Hall, on behalf of the auxiliary, expressed appreciation of Mrs. Ballantyne as president; her place would be difficult to fill. Mrs. Hall presented Mrs. Ballantyne with a handbag from the members of the auxiliary. Mr. J. Stonehouse, for the congregation, said that Mrs. Ballantyne was' on,e of the stalwarts of the church. On behalf of the church Airs. H. T. Peat presented Mrs. Ballantyne with a travelling rug. Mrs. Ballantyne also received several bouquets. In reply, Mrs. Ballantyne said she had thoroughly enjoyed her w'ork for the auxiliary, and could have accomplished little without the help of a loyal band of workers.
