APPLES FOR EXPORT

Shortage Of Shipping Space By Telegraph—Press Association. " Nelson, March 4. Because of a serious shortage of space for the shipment of fruit overseas, the Nelson Fruit Advisory Committee passed the following resolution, which was telegraphed to the Overseas Shipowners’ Allotment Committee at Wellington : this committee, representing the Nelson province, has heard from the Fruit Board with alarm that your committee has failed to provide space for fruit to the extent of 200,000 cases available for shipment, spread over the next three weeks. This means ruin for many growers and this committee urges the shipping committee to provide space according to contract. A second resolution telegraphed by the advisory committee to the lit. Hon. M. J. Savage, the Hon. AV. Nash, and the Hon. AV. Lee Martin, urgently requests immediate steps to secure space as it is impossible to delay harvesting and cool storage space is unavailable.
