Importation From Geelong An importation of interest to sbeepbreeders throughout the Dominion was the arrival by the Maungauui recently of a pedigree Corriedale ram purchased from Senator J. F. Guthrie, of “Coolangatta,” Geelong, by Mr. W. Rayner, "The Cliffs,” Masterton, ' through the stud stock department of the New 'Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. Selected from the number one flock in the Australian Corriedale SheepBreeders Association's register, this outstanding sheep is by Sir Charles from a special Bulgandra stud ewe by Bulgandra, Four Square No. 1. An active, deep-bodied, well-grown ram, with a splendid back line, Bulgandra Character, Mr. Rayner’s imported sheep, carries a magnificent fleece of the highest quality, beautifully crimped right to the tip, and of splendid length, colour and density. Guthrie Corriedales are well known in Australia, and have been bred by the present owner for the last twenty-five years. The stud was originally founded by the purchase of pedigree ewes from Mr. H. Corbett, Victoria, which were mated to specially selected stud rams secured from the New Zealand and Australian Land Company's Moeraki (N.Z.) flock, and with the exception of an odd special stud ram purchased at; high figures, up to 250 guineas, no outside blood has been introduced 1 into the stud, ■which is of Lincoln-merino origin.
