BIRTHDAY PARTY

Parents And Young Folk Entertained

To eelilbrute the fifth birthday of her daughter Geraldine Ann, Mrs. Basil Whitcombe gave a party at her home in Kelburn yesterday. Mrs. Whitcombe, in an attractive frock of black satin, and Geraldine Ann in a party frock, received the guests. The dining-room and drawing-room/ were beautifully decorated with bowls of hydrangeas, dahlias and zinnias, and on the tea table was a birthday cake with five candles.

A guest of honour was Mrs. W. S. Bean, Christchurch, who is Geraldine Ann’s grandmother. The little people played games and had tea, and later Mrs. Whitcombe entertained their parents and a number of other friends at a cocktail party. Among Mrs. Whitcombe’s guests were Dr. and Mrs. C. G. F. Morice, and Miss Constance Morice, Mr. and Mrs. Barry Blundell and Jane, Mrs. Frank Hay, Mrs. Knox Gilmer, Miss Jean Gilmer, Mr. and Mrs. John Jerram, Miss Gwen Whitcombe, Miss Whitcombe, Mr. and Mrs. Pat Williams and Ann Louise, Mr; and Mrs. Jack Bristed, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Crane, Dr. and Mrs. Geoffrey Myers, and Pam, Mr. and Mrs. Gibson .Stott and their children, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Mason, Mr. Walter Reed, Mr. Gavin Wallace, Dr. and Mrs. John Pliminer, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Miles.
