Drama on the Cornish Coast: Pictures illustrating the wreck of the Italian steamer Alba on the rocks of St. Ives Bay, Cornwall, and the subsequent loss of the St. Ives' lifeboat after it had taken off the steamer's crew. When the lifeboat was returning to shore it was hit by a huge wave and itself wrecked, five, of the Alba's crew being drowned. Top: The Alba being pounded by heavy seas after she struck. Bottom: The wrecked lifeboat lying where she was washed on the rocks.
