TRIBUTES TO SIR TRUBY KING

Hospital Board Meeting

A number of tributes were paid by members of the Wellington Hospital Board at a meeting last night to the work of the late Sir Truby King. Moving that a message of sympathy be sent from the board to the relatives of Sir Truby, the chairman, Mr. J. Glover, said that he had done a tremendous amount of good and had saved for New Zealand a large number of children.

“He had a good deal of influence on hospitals, particularly in child work,’’ said Mr. A. Castle. “Wellington in particular and New Zealand in general has lost a man who has done a great deal for th e community.” “He was a most diligent man,” said Mr. G. Petherick. “He did all he possibly could to alleviate pain and suffering while he was medical superintendent of this hospital.” The motion was passed while members of the board stood in silence.
