Gruesome Warning Sent To Chinese Editor
Shanghai, February 22.
Mr. Chu Tse-Tung, editor of the newspaper "Hwa Mei I’ao,” which is published jn the Chinese language, has received a package containing a human hand and a note demanding a cessation of his anti-Japanese articles, in default of which he will receive “another present.” Mr. Sammy Chang, a journalist who was 1 formerly director of publicity in Nanking, received a similar package. General Matsui, Japanese Command-er-in-Chief at Shanghai, departed for Tokio by air.. His successor is General Shunrutu Hata, with Major-Gen-eral Kawabe as chief of staff. JAPANESE CAPTURE Walled City North Of Yellow River Tokio, February 22. The Japanese have captured the wall city of Hwa iking, 10 miles north of the Yellow River. The fate of the .defender, General Sting CheYuari, Is unknown. The Japanese bombed Hengchow from the air. The city is 300 miles north of Canton.
