New Zealand Records Broken 0 One Australian and five New Zealand weight-lifting records were broken last night when an exhibition of weight-lift-ing was given at the Kelvin School of Physical Culture by pupils of Mr. Kenneth J. Webb. A feature of the evening was a number of unusual feats of strength performed by Mr. Webb. He also made successful attempts on the professional featherweight records of Australia and New Zealand for the two-arm curl. Mr. Webb curled 114}1b., beating the Australian record by 31b., and the New Zealand record by 1431 b. A new New Zealand light-heavyweight record of 1231 b. for the right-hand swing was established by J. Wilkin. The previous record was 1101 b. Wilkin also brdke the heavyweight record of 1091 b. for the left hand with 11531 b. E. Webb established a new New Zealand lightweight record of 911 b. for the rectangular fix. The previous record was SGlb. C. Ker broke his own New Zealand record of 1571 b. with an effort of 16431 b. for the heavyweight right hand bent press. A contest between A. Dick, New Zealand featherweight champion, and F. Sullivan, held under Olympic rules, was won by the former with an aggregate Sullivan’s aggregate was 4601 b. At the conclusion Mr. Webb made a presentation to A. Dick, who is the first Wellington weight-lifter to win the Australian award of merit medal.
