Management Committee Meets
The management committee of the Wellington Boys’ Institute held its first meeting of the year in the Institute Building, Tasman Street, on Monday night, the chairman. Mr. YV. A. Parton, presiding. A team of boys in charge of the director, Mr. Mabin, paid a visit to Wanganui and Auckland, said Mr. Parton, where they played cricket, against the YY’anganui Boys 1 ' Association and the Auckland boys', and Y.M.C.A. campers at Hunua, Auckland, resulting in the loss of the Wanganui game and two wins in Auckland, The director reported that with the exception of the annual camp, the club’s activities had. been in abeyance during fhe Christmas holidays. The club reopened the first week in February, apd cricket practice had been resumed on the Basin Reserve three afternoons a week. , In . view of the band contest at lalmerston North, which was being held at the present time, the band had been practising strenuously throughout, the month. The management committee had been present at their final practice, held on the eve of their departure, and on this occasion medals won by bandsmen o' 1 !/ in” the year were presented by Mrs. _YY. A." Parton. Mrs. J. Tindlo. wife of one of the bandsmen, also presented the band with a handsome banner whieh she had made. ’ ’
