Trinidad Empire Gaines Athletes The Trinidad Empire Games athletes arrived at Wellington with the New Zealand team by the Awatea yesterday, an'd were present at lite official welcomes throughout the day. Questioned about, the reported iu.eideut,s liet.ween .South Africans and members of his team, the manager. Mr. M. J. Joseph, said be. would prefer' to leave the matter closed. The team had been happily received by the other competitors at the Gaines, especially by the New Zealanders, whose companionship and sportsmanship they appreciated. They lin'd enjoyed themselves immensely at the Games, and were looking forward to the time of their lives in New Zealand. He did not know how long their stay would be, as the. ship on which they intended to sail was full. Mr. Joseph spoke, appreciatively of the assistance given the team , on its way to Sydney by the Wellington amateur athletic centre, and its .coach. Mr. Alfred Fitch. The latter, be.said, was a valued asset.to the sport.- . _ . The Trinidad men had a training run at Hataitai Park lust night, and tonight will appear at an electric light meeting at the Basin' Reserve;
