Wellington Business Quiet METALS ISSUES FIRMER Apart from a slightly firmer tone in Australian metals companies’ shares, which reacted to the improvement in the base metals market, there was little change in the Wellington stock and share market yesterday. Government loans were mostly firm on late rates. Business was done in 3J per cent, stock, 1953-57 at £9B/10/-,-and a small parcel of 4 per cent, stock, 194b--49 was reported done at £lO4/7/6. ' Banks were dull and unchanged, and general slackness was evident in financial, insurance and most industrial ami trading issues. ’ G. «T. Coles showed a slight improvement, and the Woolworths issues were steady. Broken Hill ro ~ prietary moved up to business at 61/b. Electrolytic Zinc preference were wanted at 48/9, sellers asking 49/-, Mount Lyells sold slightly firmer nt 29/10 to 30/-.
