Variety and musical comedy star of pre-war days, Miss Ada Reeve, now 60 years old and grey-haired, is acting as hostess at a West End milk bar and restaurant. She is usually in lhe restaurant every night—her job is to see that people are properly served. She has chosen this work- to avoid loneliness. Ada Reeve was the star of “Gaiety” shows In her day. She was the original La'dy Holyrood of “Floradora.” Recently she spent eight years in Australia.

Friend of many members, of the Royal Family, Miss Williamimi Saida Davidson has died at Jnchinarlo Cottage, Banchory, Deeside, at the age of

81. She several times entertained King George V and Queen Mary to tea at Incliuiarlo Cottage while the present King.nnd his brothers played in the garden. Her claim was that there had been Davidsons at Inchmarlo ever since there ba'd been Royalty at Balmoral. She had known the present Queen since childhood and used to play tennis with her mother, the Countess of Strathmore. Miss Davidson founded several soldiers’ homes.

For 37 years Mrs. Bailey has sold newspapers at Shepherd’s Bush underground! station. She never had a day’s illness until a few days ago, and now from her sick-bed at the age of 67 she is talking of retiring. Mrs. Bailey can remember the days when there were sheep at Shepherd’s Bush, now a busy subtirb of London, and when horse buses toiled up the steep road In Notting Hill, to he. met al the top by a boy with a fresh horse, which was barnested in front.
