Road Safety Council A welcome to Miss M. Magill, Dip. Soc. Sc., who was recently appointed to the New Zealalid Road Safety Council, was extended by the chairman, tlie Minister of Transport, Hon. R. Semple, at yesterday’s meeting of the 'council. Miss Magill is a member of the Eastbourne Borough Council and a former president of the New Zealand Educational Institute. Replying, ' Miss Magill said she thought the council would And that the women of the Dominion would be behind it in this very necessary and humane campaign.
St. Margaret's Old Girls The Wellington branch of the St. Margaret’s College Old Girls’ Association held a most enjoyable bridge evening at Mrs. Bilky’s flat in Portland Crescent on Thursday. Those present included Mesdames Fish, Atkinson, Fagati (Masterton)/Hardie,. Mirams, Misses G. Boulton (president), J. Row (secretary), A. Buchanan, P. Finch, K. Larcombe, P. and J. Shennan. Crippled Children's Society » Attention is drawn to an advertisement in this issue concerning a reception to be tendered by the Wellington branch of the New Zealand Crippled Children’s Society to its president, Mrs. Knox Gilmer, who recently returned from overseas. The reception will be held in the English Speaking Union’s rooms, Nathan’s Building. Mrs. Knox Gilmer will give an address on her experiences abroad as they affect the society
Mr. J. L. Menzies, Assistant Australian Trade Commissioner, and Mrs. Menzies, who have recently arrived in New Zealand from Australia, have taken Miss Jessie Tingey’s home, 21 Burnell Avenue. Mrs. David Caselberg, Masterton, is visiting Rotorua. Mrs. A. D. Low, Masterton, is visiting Dunedin. Mrs. R. Norrie and Miss V. Norrie, Wellington, are the guests of Mrs. V. Fisher, Invercargill.
