Flying-Boat Damaged At • Sydney ' (Received February 2, 5.5 p.m.) Sydney, February 2. One of the Royal Air Force flyingboats visiting Sydney for the celebrations began to sink at her moorings at Rose Bay last night. It was beached with the fore portion flooded. Extensive damage, estimated at about £6OO was done, including the loss of charts, logbooks and maps and severe damage to delicate precision instruments, the cameras and batteries. .Squadron Leader Feather expressed the opinion that some curious person in a rowing boat, after or before inspecting tlie flying-boat, perforated Hie thin/fuselage with a brass-tipped oar below the waterline, where a six-incli jagged rip was discovered, through which water trickled for hours.
