ELEVEN DROWNED

Capsize Of Lifeboat At St. Ives London, February 1. There were scenes of heroism on the rocky fringe of St. Ives harbour when a lifeboat returning with 23 members of the crew of the wrecked Panama steamer Alba (2300 tons) capsized in terrific seas within sight of hundreds of onlookers. The boat soon righted itself, and nine of th’e lifeboatmen reboarded it and rescued 12 of tlie shipwrecked sailors with the aid of police and civilians, who dashed into the seething waters. They were unable to save the remaining 11 foreigners.
