Fields For To-day SPECIAL TRAIN FROM HASTINGS (By" The Watchee.) The Wairoa annual meeting will open to-day and conclude on Saturday. Useful fields are carded for to-day’s racing. Singlepool betting will operate. In addition to the increased stakes, several trophies have been presented by wellwishers and patrons of the club. Each day will See three trophy races being contested, and for the most successful trainer there is a cash prize of ten guineas, and to the horseman gaining most points over the two days five guineas is awarded. On top of this a whip will be presented to the successful rider in the Wairoa Cup, and another to the rider of the winner in the Hack Cup the second day. The track is in great order after the recent rain. A special train will leave Hastings this morning for Wairoa. This will be the first occasion that a passenger train has made the trip up, the recently-completed East Coast railway. The following horses may be supported in their engagements:— Trial Handicap: Thala and Gay Mimic. District Hack : Puccini and Mitzi. Wairoa Cup: Wananga aud Lacquer. Te Kupenga Hack: Seyfried and Flying Comedy. Maiden Scurry: Jacynth and King's Hope. Ormond Handicap : Black Thread and Fossicker. Rauwa Hack: Money Raid and Taro. 12.45—--PHIAL HANDICAP, of £75.
