An interesting feature of the new track from Rakeahua River to Doughboy Bay, Southland, is the remarkable number of large kiwis seen between Table Hill and the beach. One of the men working there saw eight in one evening. About Doughboy Bay the kiwis are more plentiful than any other birds in that forest.
