“LABOUR DAILY”
Receiver Appointed By Mr. Lang Sydney, January 26. Mr. J. T. Lang, Leader of the State Opposition, has appointed Mr. Norman Alphonsus McCauley receiver and manager of the “Labour Daily” to protect his second debenture security in that paper. It is expected that immediate legal action will be taken by shareholders to clarify the situation. A sensational development in official Sydney Labour circles last week was tiie announcement that Mr. Lang bad given notice to the board of directors of the “Labour Daily” of his intention to call up the principal second debenture of £13,764, together with interest, £3460. In the event of default he intended to appoint a receiver as manager of the newspaper. It is expected that Mr. Lang will in due course quit the Labour movement, and that, the “Labour Daily” will fall into the hands of an industrial section composed largely of miners, who for years have contributed largely to the support of the paper.
