NUN'S JUBILEE Fifty Years Of Service A record of 50 years’ service to the Roman Catholic Church has been achieved by Mother Mary Immaculata, Opunake, who recently celebrated her golden jubilee as a nun. Of the 50 years spent in the cause of the Catholic Church 24 have been spent at the Opunake Convent. Her work was principally teaching and besides her period at Opunake she lias taught in the convent schools at Opunake, New Plymouth, and Stratford. Before going to Taranaki Mother Mary was at Nelson. Napier and Christchurch. Her jubilee has been the occasion for many goodwill visits by former pupils and many messages of congratulation and good wishes. Mention of her service as a nun was made at churches in the parish on Sunday. Following a request from the Wellington branch of the British Empire Cancer Campaign members of tlie Red Cross have undertaken to help in connection with the forthcoming Street Day Appeal on behalf of that fund, and have agreed to. accept responsibility for the stand at James Smith's Ltd- Mrs. Dennistoun-Wood will act as convener.
