A travelling rug'was presented yesterday to Mr. H. H. Elms, for eight years assistant accountant to the Lower Hutt Borough Council, who leaves for Kaponga on Monday to assume the position of town clerk. The town clerk of Lower -Hutt Mr. B. S. Lower Hutt visitors to Wanganui for the Dominion croquet tournament include Mesdames G. H. Mouat, E. Johnson, Moeller, W. E. Bock, Earle McKenzie, Mr. (< and Mrs. Bryan, and Miss D. McKenzie. Mr and Mrs. William Hendry, Bridge ■Street, Lower Hutt, have returned from Waipawa, where they were the guests of their daughter, Mrs. V. Douglas. Mrs. J. B. Wood, Bellevue Road, Lower Hutt, has returned from a visit to Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. Renner and _ family. Lower Hutt, are spending the holidays at Waikanae. Mr. and Mrs. Tanner, Lower Hutt, are camping at Waikanae beach. Mrs. Batten. Lower Hutt, is their guest. M. rnad Mrs. Johnston, Waterloo Road, Lower Hutt, are at Waikanae beach for the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Graham, Waterloo Road, Lower Hutt, have returned after several weeks at Waikanae be.-v.-b. Mr. mid Mrs. Hugh Sladden, Woburn Road, Lwoer Hutt, are staying at Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Graham’s cottage at Waikanae beach.

Mr. and Mrs. Bennett, Behnon.t. Lower Hutt, have returned home after ‘spending some weeks at 'Waikanae. Mr. and Mrs. E. Collett. Bracken Street, Petone, and their daughters, the Misses Valda and Ida Collett, are spending a fortnight’s holiday at Mufitai. . Mr. and Mrs. F. McFarlane. Puriri Street, Lower Hutt, are on holiday at Eastbourne.
