Dangerous Roads
Sir, —I take exception to the remarks made by “Resident” in his description, of the Stokes Road in your issue of January 17. This road is. one of the most interesting and exciting in the AA rellington district. Surely “Resident” has failed to appreciate the delights to be obtained from viewing the. grader (I suspect this machine was originally an instrument of torture in the early Spanish Inquisition which later has been partially converted) removing the loose metal from the non-existent drainage .channel to fill up the pot-holed surface? AA 7 hat joy the motor drivers must experience in ploughing through the results of the grader's work to explore once more the yawning depths of the original cavities. “Resident” should realise that ■- this Stokes Valley road is an asset, for after a hard day’s work in the city, it makes one glad to be home.—l am, etc., ALICE. AVellington, January 19.
