During the past few weeks the Maori guides at Whakarewarewa have been kept continuously busy conducting sightseers round the thermal region. As an indication of the heavy extent of the tourist traffic to the district this summer, it was stated by Guide Bella that never in her experience as a guide had she seen more visitors to the area than during the past few weeks.
