SAMOAN DEPUTATION

Assurances Of Goodwill MR. SAVAGE’S STATEMENT Assurances of goodwill to the New Zealand Government from Samoa will be brought by the Samoan deputation, which will arrive in New Zealand today in the iMonttyey to place several questions 'before the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage. This was indicated by Mr. Savage in an interview last evening.. “The members of 'the deputation are mainly coming here to assure us of their goodwill,” Mr. , Savage said. “They also want to discuss their affairs with us, of course, but if they were not bringing those assurances of goodwill to us it would be contrary to all they have said in the past.” It is likely that after the deputation has placed the major items it wishes to deal with before the Prime Minister, the discussions on .details, if they are at all protracted, will foe heard by the Minister .of Lands, Hon. F. Langstone, who led the goodwill mission to Samoa and who has 'been deputising for the Prime Minister a good deal as ActingMinister in Charge of Native Affairs. It is understood that the deputation will be in Wellington on Monday.
