The secretary, Mr. 11. Firth, said the wickets had been prepared really for picnic cricket, but the Hutt Valley Cricket Association looked for first-class pitches. It had been estimated that it would cost £5O a piece to prepare new wickets. The committee received 11/- a Saturday from the association for each -wicket. Teams playing friendly or picnic matches paid 15/-. ■ ■ • The association was growing rapidly, and in a year or two would be prepared to pay a good price for good wickets, said Mr. Wilson. .. The chairman, Mr. E. T. E. Hogg, said the question of what to do with the wickets could be dealt, with at the appropi’info time when the estimates were being considered.
