STOLEN TENNIS BALLS
Theft From Car Admitted
'l'he theft from a car on Saturday night of a box of six tennis balls valued nt 7/-, the property of James Noel McDonald Norman, led to the appearance in the Magistrates' Court, Wellington, yesterdav, before Mr. J. G. L. Hewitt, S.M., of Edward Lambert Bramhall, aged 31, trimmer, of the s.s. Matnkana. He pleaded guilty nnd was convicted and lined £2 10/-, in default seven days' imprisonment.
Senior-Sergeant D. O'Neill, prosecuting, said that on Saturday night the attention of a Wellington resident who. was sitting in his car outside the Hotel Waterloo was attracted by.the actions of a man who was peering into a line of ears nearby. His suspicions aroused, Im advised the police. Bramhall was found after a search, and when first interrogated said he bought the balls in England. Later, however, he admitted he had taken them from a car outside 2YA.
