For The Early Autumn
The time is rapidly approaching when the summer is not yet over and autumn has not really begun, and we are faced with the problem of betweenseasons clothes. It is the time when we can wear light woollen frocks, skirts and short-sleeved jumpers and blouses, and when the ever-useful coat-and-skirt is much in demand. Jackets to slip on over cool summer frocks are useful, and so is the lightweight overcoat and the swagger-coat, which can be worn with everything.
“ Betweeii-Seasous ” Apparel
Above is a boxy pastel coat which can be tossed on with sports dresses when the weather is too warm for tweed, a cut-away coat with a skirt in any one of the cool summer suitings, and a boxy coot to wear over dresses. The skirt with crease pleats and tabbed-in-belt is new.’
In the centre is a useful three-piece ensemble in’heavy black silk. The waistcoat in a contrasting shade is new and ideal for chilly days at the end of summer. On the left is a semi-tailored suit in linen tweed. Notice the triangular box pleat in the skirt and the trimming on the belted jacket. The bodice in two contrasting shades of blue is trimmed with appliqued bands of the light er colour. A useful between-seasons frock has a tiny collar and a long jabot of grey astrakhan.
