MORNING TEA
Ladies' Harbour Lights Guild A special meeting of the Wellington Ladles’ Harbour Lights Guild was held at the Mission to Seamen’s building yesterday and took the form of a morning tea in honour of Mrs. Ashley Jones, who has resigned from the executive committee. Mrs. G. P. H. Davidson was in the chair, and there were present Mrs. D. A. Ewen, Mrs. R. D. Oliver, Mrs. W. H. Price, Mrs. A. J. Curtis, Mrs Gunn, Mrs Harley Brown, Mrs. P. T. Kindred, Mrs. Graham Robertson, Mrs. David Aiken, Mrs. D. G. 'Williams, Miss Eleanor Pharazyn, the Rev. B. Williams. Eulogistic references were made in regard to Mrs. Ashley Jones’s work on the executive, and regret was expressed at losing so valuable a member, Mrs. Ashley Jones was presented with a lovely bouquet and a clock. Opportunity was taken to discuss plans for “Nautical Week,’’ to be held from March 7 to 12, it being stated that there will be a fair at the mission each day, with competitions and a very special prize for winners. The windup of “Nautical 'Week’’ will be a ball, which will be held at St. Francis Hall on March 10. This should prove a great attraction and promises to be a popular prelude to the social season.
Discussion also took place regarding the entertainment of sailors from the French sloop, which is due to arrive at Wellington on February 20, and will be in port until February 25.
