COMMISSION CONTROL FOR FEW MONTHS
A commission will perform the functions of a school committee when the new school opens at Waterloo, Lower Hutt, next month. It will hold office until the annual meeting of householders in April or May. A school committee will then be elected in the usual way.
In the case of a new school for which there is no committee, it is provided by legislation that the education board for the district may control the school direct or appoint a commission. The appointments to the commission are lhe board’s prerogative and, as a rule, the commissioners are chosen from those in the district with school committee or other educational experience.
