' Suburbs Club The Suburbs Rille Club tired the con eluding round for the 300 yards series and the WbiO'ombe Cup at Trentham on Saturday. Weather conditions were fairly good, but a tricky rear wind was inclined to keep the scoring down H. Crownshaw and L. Fellingham tied tor first place off the rifle with 02 points each. The results of the 300 yards series were:—W. Smith. 1934. 1; T. Goodall. 193. 2: Oliver. 1921. 3: L. Fellingham. 192, 4. Rifleman T. Goodall was the winner of the Whitcombe Cup with 193 po : nt«. Next week's competition shoot will be nt 500 vards. squadding Nos. 17 to 19 PETONE CLUB SCORES The Petone Rifle Club tired another competition at Trentham on Saturday, the results counting for the second series Burridge and Longfield handicap aggregates. The range for the day was 300 vards. Conditions were not easy. The light varying combined with a rear wind swinging’ from right to left in sudden changes kept the competitors on the alert. The best totals for the day .were made by J. Carter and W. H. Nickless with 95 each, followed by YV. C. Hogg and H. Pelling with 94. The best single range scores were made by Carter. Nickless. Pelling, Guiney and Cameron. 48 each. There were nine other scores of 47. There were 18 scores which equalled or bettered the elub’s standard of 46 for this range.
With one shoot to vo to complete the second series the following are iu the leading positions:— A grade: J. C. Carter. 252; W. H. Ballinger. 280: W. 11. Niekless and D. E. Cameron. 276.
B and C grades: S. Nielioll. 278: W. C. Hogg and K. MneDowall. 277: R. W. McGrath and H. Pelling. 276: J G Badland. 275.
Next Saturday will complete the second series and will also be the first shoot of the club's championship series. The range will be 500 yards. Saturday's scores were:—
Masterton-Opaki Club .Mastvrton, January 9. Due o a very boisterous wind, almost approaching gale force at times, varying in velocity and direction with a heavy mirage running, conditions at Saturday’s eonipelltion shoot by the Masterton-Opake Rifle Club were dittlcult.
