ASSAILANT ESCAPES
Dominion Special Service.
Auckland, December 19.
Holding a handkerchief to his face to staunch a bleeding wound believed to have been inflicted by a razor, a young man walked into the St. J ohn Ambulance station iu Rutland Street, at 10.30 p.m., on Saturday. The young man, Colin Honey, aged 17, residing with his parents, was accompanied by another youth with whom he had spent the evening at a city theatre. The injured youth and his companion left the theatre a few minutes before the end of the programme and were followed by two' other men who were strangers 'to them. Though full information had not been obtained by the police to-night, it appears that, the two young men were involved in a dispute with the strangers in Queen’s Arcade. The affair culminated in one of the strangers drawing what appeared to be a blade razor with which he inflicted a long gash on one side of the young man’s face. The assailant, and his companion then disappeared. The victim of the attack was brought to the ambulance station by his friend and the police were summoned. He was later taken to the Auckland Hospital and after the wound was switched, returned home. The affair is being investigated by . detectives.
