Wedding In An Old-World
Garden
A picturesque wedding took place on Saturday afternoon at the lovely home of Mrs. Al. A. Bogle, at Alabina Bay, where Belinda Mary Stafford, only daughter of Mrs. Al. A. Bogle and the late Dr. G. V. Bogie, was married to Philip Wallace, son of Airs. Janet Hector and the late Dr. Hector. The ceremony was performed on the lawn, in a setting of trees and early summer flowers, under a pohutukawa where an elaborately carved table had been placed and decorated with deep bowls of roses. The officiating clergyman was the Rev. H. W. Newell. The bride, who was given away by her uncle, Mr. A. 11. Bogle, Wanganui. wore a frock of pale yellow dimity organza over taffeta. The heaitshaped neckline was edged with a narrow band of pleating and the puffed sleeves were tucked. Godets of pintucked yellow organdie were inserted in the skirt and she wore a wide-brim-med leghoni hat trimmed with yellow flowers. Her bouquet was of roses, carnations and fern. There were no bridesmaids and the groom was attended by his brother, Air. John Hector. A reception was held in the house which was decorated with masses of ■dowers. The guests were received by Mrs. Bogle, assisted by Aire. Hector. Airs. Bogle wore a frock of navy blue floral crepe de chine with a redingote of navy wool georgette and a hat of . navy straw. Mrs. Hector was in flowered voile of tangerine and blue, with a matching blue jacket, and a widebrimmed black hat. After the reception, the bride ana bridegroom left for a camping holiday in the North Island.
Smith —Haines
A large gathering of friends assembled at St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral recently for the wedding of Betty, younger daughter of Mr. and Airs. B. H Haines, Brooklyn, and Kenneth Gordon, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Smith, Khandallah, the Rev. Gordon McKenzie officiating. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a redingote of navy blue georgette over a- floral frock with a hat of shirred navy georgette, finished with a double-eye-veil. She carried a sheath of blue delphiniums and scarlet roses. Aliss Lorna Thompson, who was bridesmaid, wore plain navy georgette with a halo hat of straw to match. Her bouquet was of apricot roses. Squad-ron-Leader Grundy attended the groom as best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, where Mrs. Haines and Mrs. J. Gordon Smith received the guests who included for the most part relatives of the bride and groom. Air. and Alys. K. Gordon Smith left for Christchurch the same evening, where in future they will reside.
Turner —McPhee
The wedding took place on Wednesday, December 17, at St, Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, of Flora Beth, second daughter of Air. and Airs. Charles AlcPhee, Kelburn, Wellington, and Bruce Robert, only son of Airs. Helen Turner, Christchurch, and the late Air. Rockley Turner, Sydney. The Rev. Brian Kilroy was the officiating minister. ' . The bride wore a beautiful, sunplymade frock of deep cream satin, fully trained, and buttoned down the back. The sleeves were tight-fitting over the wrist and the bodice, with a heartshaped neckline, shirred in front. Her long cream embroidered tulle veil fell from a halo of satin, and she carried a bouquet of cream roses. The bridesmaid, Miss Robin Turner, wore a frock of forget-me-not blue over satin, made iu redingote style, and finished with box-pleating down the front and round the hemline. It was slightly trained and was finished with a cluster of forget-me-nots in front. She wore a band of forget-me-nots in her hair and carried a bouquet of pink gladioli. Mr. J. Trudgeon was best man and Alessrs. T. Hyde, T. Dolg, and J. Stewart acted as ushers. At the reception, at which the bride’s mother was assisted by Airs. H, Turner, the former wore a model frock of black lace, with full sleeves of georgette. Her wide-brimmed black hat was finished with a posy of flowers, and she carried a bouquet of apricot-shaded roses. The bridegroom’s mother was in a tailored black silk frock with a stiffened white pique collar and revers finished with a box-pleated edging; her black hat was trimmed with a white rouleau and she carried a bouquet of red roses.
When Air. and Airs. B. R. Turner left later, the latter wore a tailored suit of smoke-blue Harris tweed, with blouse and hat of the same colour and a fox fur.
