Lady Bell Bowl & Challenge Cup PLAY AT HERETAUNGA The popular an: ual mixed foursome for the Lady Bell 1 *wl and challenge cup was played by the Wellington Golf Club on Saturday, and attracted a large entry. The winners were Airs. E. Al. Hunt and D. G. S. Marchbanks, who returned Hie good card of 1 down. Next came Aliss Al. Peacock and S. G. Longuet, 3 down ; Airs. 11. S. Malcolm and L. 11. ft'hiteombe, 4 down ; Airs. W. G. I’urnbull and ft'. E. C. Gregory. 5 down; Mrs. ft'. E. U. Gregory and R. B. Boulter, 5 down; Aliss J. Brodie and E. ft’. Thurgood, 5 down; Airs. J. G. D. Duncan won the intermediate championship of the YVellington elub yesterday by defeating T. P. McCarthy in the final over 36 holes by 3 up and 1 to go. Duncan showed something like his form of a few seasons back by covering the course both morninu’ and afternoon in 75. McCarthy played well, but could not match Duncan's steadiness in all departments of the game.

111 the second round of the Shandon ladies' mid-week club's Slimmer Cup. Aliss E. Rockstrow returned a 75 net. gaining three points, and Mesdatnes Cockroft. Hatriek. and Hore, 76 net. scored one point each. Owing to the Christmas holidays,, the third round will not be clayed until AA’ednesday. January 5. Judgeford Country Club The Judgeford Country Club concluded its winter season with the most exciting of the series, the final of the Bridgford Cup. The replay was played last weekend between J. Spence and ft’. Martin, the result bein'- a clear-cut victory for the latter, 10 up and 9. The previous week this match resulted in a draw over 36 holes. Alartin conceding his opponent 16 strokes over the 36 holes. An exciting game in the morning up to the twelfth (in the second game) wits all square. From then on Alartin gradually wore his opponent down, being 5 up on going in to lunch. After starting off for the final 18. Martin forged ahead again, and finished the match on the twentyseventh green. It is worthy of note that Martin took 24 for the nine holes’. Martin Ims been playing brilliant golf all through the season, likewise Spence, who won the intermediate ehnmpionsliip.

The greens and fairways at Judgeford arc in excellent condition, and when the relaying of the course takes place next season low handicap men around Wellington will take advonte-n ~r its excelled possibilif ins.
